Residents can Reserve Multiuse Recreation Courts
By City Staff
Multiuse recreation courts, outfitted for pickleball and tennis, at Cathcart Park, Germain Park, Kenwick Park, and Linden Park are now available for residents to reserve.
Use of these courts is now consistent with use of other City recreation facilities including baseball diamonds, soccer pitches, and picnic pavilions, all which require reservations.
Due to the rising popularity of tennis and pickleball in Sarnia, reservation-based usage is being implemented to ensure that users and groups have access to courts when needed.
Residents can reserve courts by contacting the Parks and Recreation Department in person at City Hall, or by phone at 519-332-0330 ext. 3201. The cost to rent a court is $15 per hour.
“We want to educate residents that programming and reserved use is now in effect for tennis courts,” explains Shelley Kern, Superintendent, Recreation, Strangway Community Centre. “These courts have been recently resurfaced and several sites have new fencing.”
Reservations are available outside of regularly scheduled leagues and programming. During times when courts are not reserved, they are open to the public on a first come, first serve basis, at no cost. Courts at Tecumseh, Lansdowne, and Clearwater Parks do not require reservations.
Signage will be developed and displayed at each court in the near future.
