Do you accept general applications for employment?
We only accept applications for advertised positions. Please remember to include the posted job title you are applying for on your application.
The posting I am interested in has closed, may I still apply?
You may apply, however, your application will be marked as a late submission. Preference will be given to candidates who submitted their application on time.
How will I know if I am selected?
When you are being considered for an interview, you will receive either a telephone call or an e-mail message from a Human Resources Representative. Due to the volume of applications we receive, we will contact only those candidates who have been selected for an interview.
Will you contact me even if I don’t get an interview?
We contact those individuals who are selected for an interview. Feel free to follow up with us if you wish to find out the status of the competition.
How are positions advertised?
We have two types of postings: internal and external.
- Internal postings are posted inside the organization, and are filled exclusively by members of our bargaining units.
- External postings are posted on our website and are open to all candidates.
Can I apply for more than one position at a time?
We encourage you to apply to any opportunities that meet your skills, education and professional experience.
How often are job opportunities posted on the City of Sarnia website?
We post opportunities on our website on a regular basis.
