There is no risk to City of Sarnia drinking water as the result of a spill reported in the St. Clair River on March 27. Booms have been deployed, and the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks Spills Action Centre has been notified after a release of crude oil into the St. Clair River at the Suncor Docks on Thursday, March 27, 2025. St. Clair Township has reported the possibility of unsafe water conditions downstream of the area and has advised recreational boaters to avoid the area. The spill is located downstream of intakes for water distributed by the City of Sarnia, and there are no safety concerns for City of Sarnia drinking water at this time.
