Human Resources is responsible for the effective management of all aspects of the corporate Human Resources function. Particular emphasis is on the managing and facilitating of effective labour relations within the Corporation. This includes negotiating and administering collective agreements with five City bargaining units, and providing labour relations services to the Police Services Board.
Other critical areas of responsibility include health and safety initiatives, employee compensation, training, development, recruitment, and the development of corporate policies and procedures. Human Resources must also ensure that the City is in compliance with employment related legislation.
